Eating Disorder Group

Eating Disorder Groups

Meets every other Tuesday at 4pm.

Facilitated by Lori O’Leary, MA, LPC, LCADC

Anorexia

This group is for all ages/sex to learn more about themselves as they begin to recover from their disorder. Some may be coming from inpatient or IOP programs and others may just be starting their journey. The group members will learn about bringing down walls, becoming open to others and insightful to themselves. The members of this group must also be in individual counseling with either one of our skilled clinicians or enrolled in individual counseling with an outside clinician or program. We will also require a release to a medical doctor who monitors the case.

Bulimia

This group is for all ages/sex suffering from a binge/purge cycle of eating. Individuals will be met with a  non-judgmental approach dealing with a very private disorder. Learning to accept oneself and put oneself first will also be a key goal for members. The goals of this group include reducing the amount and frequency of eating and replace that with healthy tools for emotional regulation.

Overeating/Binge Eating

This group will help individuals learn how they use food for emotional regulation. Tools for learning to control emotions will be taught and practiced in group. This group will also be part of our bariatric program. Our Bariatric program is for those who are considering bariatric surgery to lose weight. We will work in conjunction with any of the programs and doctors in the area to provide an evaluation for readiness, as well as counseling pre-surgery and post surgery.

Meet Your Counselor
Lori O'Leary

After graduating from Rutgers University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Rowan University with a Masters Degree in Psychology, Lori began her career helping patients with Post-Concussion Syndrome. This exposed her to the struggles people face with addictions, and she was fascinated with the underlying root causes of the affliction. In 1990 Lori transitioned her focus to Addictions Counseling.

Over the next decade, her skills brought her to a variety of settings, including hospitals, rehabs, partial programs, and aftercare facilities. She also became a Substance Abuse Counselor for the State of New Jersey, as well as a Therapist for The Cherry Hill Alternative High School.

By 2000, Lori decided to combine her extensive experience with her own unique approach to counseling and opened her own practice with a concentration on addiction, eating disorders, and relationships.

With the help and support of her husband and co-owner Paul, O’Leary Counseling has emerged a successful group counseling center with a full staff of therapists that continues to expand to meet the needs of the community.

Lori is a published writer, and has conducted and lectured on original research throughout the country on personality and addiction.

Lori is also an Approved Clinical Supervisor that currently supervises several clinicians in the process of acquiring their LPCs.
